Favourite Finds – Why We’re Loving Metta Skincare

June 30, 2014

Metta Skincare range

You may recall, a couple of weeks ago we wrote about having a ‘Girl Crush’ on Anca Grigoras of Metta Skincare – a true beauty who Ruby was lucky enough to catch up with and learn about her story behind her range. We think you’ll love it.

Metta Skincare pride themselves on a range of products that are fit for everyday use, suitable for both women and men, 100% natural, handcrafted, and contain carefully sourced Certified Organic ingredients.

A Conscious Beauty was fortunate enough to be gifted the entire Metta Skincare range from the lovely lady herself. We were so thrilled and touched by her generosity, that we thought it only fitting to provide our beauties with a little review of her entire product range.

Body Butter

As the website states, this product does indeed melt upon contact with skin, which gave it a very luxurious feel. I am big user of creams and haven’t really used many oil based moisturisers in the past. As such, it did take a bit of an adjustment to my routine to get the most out of it for me. What worked best for me, was applying the body butter generously at night before bed, allowing time for the oil to soak in and for me to take time with the application. The butter smells lovely and the hints of beautiful lavender made this a perfect companion for my night time beauty routine. The other recommended use is as a massage oil, due to how it melts in to your skin. I haven’t tried that out yet, but looking forward to!

Body Oil

This Body Oil is probably my favourite of all the products I was lucky enough to sample. It was the perfect compliment post dry brushing and shower efforts, smoothing over the skin easily, and absorption was pretty good for an oil based product. Prior to now, if I was out of moisturiser I would turn to Coconut Oil, but would often take a while to be soaked up by the skin. This product certainly won me over and now I will be using this instead of a moisturiser/body butter – unless I was looking for something that absorbed a little quicker. Despite being an oil, which you might tend to go through a little quicker, I have been using it almost every day for about a month now and see it lasting at least 3-6 months.

Face Balm

I was really curious by Metta’s Face Balm, as again it was a primarily oil based product. Unlike the body, the face can be more delicate but I found no reaction to the oils for my combination skin tone. It is a fantastic option for winter as it provides that little extra moisturisation. I would likely use it on it’s own for every day, rather than as a base under foundation during which I typically use a cream based product. One word of caution though, be careful when applying the balm around the eye area or if you rub your eyes, as the oils can sting them a little.

Hand Balm

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I always have hand cream on the go (much like my Mum). I have one close at hand throughout the day – next to my pen holder at work, in my handbag for when I’m on the go, on my dresser for when I’m getting ready, and on my bedside table for last minute applications before sleep. So it made sense for me to be the lucky lady chosen to trial the hand balm from this collection! This is another product which smells lovely – the combination of the essential oils and lavender has an immediate calming and relaxing effect. The balm is rich and left my hands feeling deeply moisturised. I also noticed that my nails were stronger and shinier (and also appeared to grow quicker, though not 100% sure!). As this product is also oil based it took a bit of time to soak in which meant I mainly used this at night, or the weekends, when I could take my time to apply. I followed the advice of the website and used it on my elbows and heels as well. I also took it one step further and used it on my entire foot, giving myself a foot massage before popping socks on to sleep in – which I can highly recommend if you want to give yourself a bit of an at-home pamper.

Lip Balm

This little gem of a lip balm is gorgeous. Like the other products in the range, the hint of lavender is great for keeping you soothed, relaxed as well as healing the skin due to it’s antibacterial properties. The lip balm is actually lighter than I thought it would be, glides on nicely and not too heavy and perfect for every day wear.
