DIY Coconut Oil Body Butter

Whipped Coconut Oil Body Butter in a jar

I ran out of moisturiser last weekend and as I was already attacking another DIY recipe (lip scrub), I did a bit of research in to natural options for body moisturisers as well.

I found this recipe from Living The Nourished Life and made my own ‘Whipped Coconut Oil Body Butter’.

p.s. making this recipe may result in you humming Whip it to the tune of ‘Push It’ by salt’n’pepa round your kitchen… you have been warned!

ballet slippers and leg warmers

A good friend of mine and I have been speaking about dance classes for a long time, specifically ballet classes. We have never actually made it to a class… until now!

I’m going to be trying a beginners ballet class at Sydney Dance Company, down in the Rocks with some friends in March. I’ll give you an update on how the lesson goes & if I like it, will provide more of a progress report over the coming weeks.

I did ballet throughout childhood, along with tap & gymnastics, so am looking forward to giving it another whirl as an adult. I also love the freedom of dance and expression, throw in the discipline and the rigour brought by ballet and think it’s a wonderful mix.

DIY Lip Scrub

February 24, 2014

If you’re like me, you suffer from dry and chapped lips. Lip balm is one your best friends and you always have one close to hand. The challenge I’m having at the moment is that I’m having to constantly re-apply. Having a chat around, some girlfriends recommended to try a lip polish or lip scrub to help exfoliate my lips. The exfoliation and removal of the dead skin cells will supposedly help them absorb the moisture from my lip balm much better.

I had a crack this weekend after finding this recipe from Chalkboard Mag and made my own ‘Sugar Honey Lip Scrub’. I adapted the recipe from the Chalkboard Mag version as it used Vaseline.

Empowerment and words – choose them wisely!

Why “I Don’t” Works Better Than “I Can’t”

Last month I wrote about the power of language and how to say no. This post builds on how your words can help to both empower you and frame your control.

The reason behind this empowering is that the words you choose to use help create a feedback loop in your brain, which can and will impact your future behaviours.

Picture this; every time you tell yourself “I can’t”, this creates a feedback loop in your mind that is a reminder of your limitations. Also, using this terminology indicates that you are forcing yourself to do something you actually do not want to do.

The path to success

January 22, 2014
Success means very different things to different people as it all depends on what lens you’re looking through and what you personally define as important. For some, success revolves around work – getting that promotion, receiving a sought after pay-rise or hitting all deadlines on a key project. For others, it revolves around sports and their hobbies – setting PBs, tackling a new course, scoring the match winning goal or their team taking out the league. Many others define success at a more personal level – achieving work-life balance, a harmonious & happy marriage, or studying and acing something new.
