Be willing to start over – my night with Danielle LaPorte

May 8, 2014

Wow, wow, wow with a healthy dose of Ohhh. Emm. Gee!!

I had the sublime pleasure of seeing this beauty in the flesh on Tuesday night at the Art Gallery of NSW. I also had the sublime pleasure of giving her a hug as well. Everyone else in the line up was thanking her for speaking and changing their lives etc. etc. and like the dork I am, I told her she smelt great – she thanked me and told me it was simply Rose water and Geranium. And, that was that, a very surreal moment for us both I think!

Let’s start at the beginning …

I’d seen Danielle announce on her Facebook page that she had arranged a relatively last minute event in Sydney. It piqued my interest but I didn’t buy a ticket. I actually decided to let Ruby know that we’ll go see her in the States or Canada next year as one of our big goals or BHAGs.

Biophilia – What it is & Why I love it

April 1, 2014

Sunrise Curl Curl Beach AustraliaBio-what you say?

Biophilia I say!

I know it’s an unusual term, but bear with me beauties while I take time to explain it to those who aren’t in the know.

Biophilia – what does it mean?

The term “biophilia” literally means:

“love of life or living systems.”

It was first used by Erich Fromm to describe a psychological orientation of being attracted to all that is alive and vital. Edwards O. Wilson, a Harvard biologist, went on to use the term in the same sense when he suggests that biophilia describes:

“the connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of life.”

Inspiring Speech on Beauty

March 17, 2014

I had to share this wonderful speech from the Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong’o.

At the 7th annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon Lupita accepted an award for Best Breakthrough Performance. It was here she delivered a speech on beauty which was incredibly inspirational and it was one which really resonated with me.

Enjoy watching her speech beauties, and hope you find as inspiring as I did:

Waking Up Without An Alarm Clock

March 13, 2014

Reaching out to alarm clock

Who here likes their alarm clock?

I know don’t have a great relationship with mine, especially on a dark and dreary winter’s day. How blissful would it be to wake up naturally, when you’re supposed to, and not have to be rudely awakened by a buzz, beep or ting!

On the other hand, rather than have your alarm rudely interrupt your sleep, have you ever woken up just before your alarm went off?

There’s a biological reason for you waking up like that and it’s known as PER.
