There is nothing better that a dessert that is tastes good and your skin will love you for, right?

As you may recall, we spoke about the importance of hydration a little while back so today we thought we would bring you our favourite hydrating recipe from my new book Paleo.

This watermelon and basil granita is a hydrating, refreshing dessert or snack option particularly as the weather starts to warm up! Watermelon is made up of about 92% water and 8% sugar, with its deep red colouring attributed to its high Lycopene content, a powerful antioxidant.

My relationship with alcohol and the holistic beauty journey

July 24, 2014

There was a period in my life where alcohol played a significant role and was almost always associated with the word FUN.

In my late teens and early 20’s I enjoyed more that your standard few drinks – one, often three times per week. I’m not sure I would have called myself a ‘binge drinker’ but there was rarely a night out that I didn’t drink, let alone the amount of times I was sick from it. Yes, they were some classy moments I assure you.

I don’t have any massive regrets about that period of my life, but like most of my friends, that was our version of normal. Looking back now, I do recall a handful of times that my judgement was impaired and had I not been drinking, I probably would have thought twice about that guy or getting into that car.

Before I met my husband, I wasn’t much of a morning person. Five years of University studies combined with a few too many nights out doesn’t leave one rushing to get out of bed in the morning.

But these days, you’ll find me relishing those early hours as time to get both my body and mind prepared for the day ahead.

You know what makes me value these rituals so much?

I walk out the door in the morning feeling relaxed, grounded and at ease.

Winter beauty food – a guide to bone broth with Primal Junction

bone broth

Have you noticed these two words flying around a lot lately?

Bone broth is a regular occurrence in a Primal Junction household, and if you haven’t caught on yet, here’s our guide to why you should dust off the stockpot and learn a trick or two from our frugal ancestors. They sure knew not to waste any part of the animal.

Not only is bone broth incredibly nutrient dense, it’s jam-packed full of minerals that nourish skin cells and reduce inflammation in the body and skin. Gelatine-rich bone broth is often recommended for clear and firm skin and is believed to be helpful for reducing wrinkles and cellulite.

Morning beauty rituals – the green smoothie

June 10, 2014

Today we are going to continue our morning ritual series by sharing with you a practice I can thank my mother-in-law for – the ever popular green smoothie! For me, the ritual started with a bang not long after she gifted us a Vitamix a couple of years ago.

As you may recall, our resident beauty food expert – Lizzy, shared with us her favourite green smoothie a few months back which you can find here. But today, I thought I would explore with you what this practice means for me, my body and primarily my skin.
