This is one local brand that is ticking all the boxes right now.

And their story goes something like this…

Husband and wife duo, Kim and Andi, first discovered the concept for their skincare brand while honeymooning in the idyllic Cook Islands. The pair share diverse backgrounds spanning wine making to publishing, but it was the abundance of natural ingredients available in the South Pacific that captured their hearts. They also recognised the huge impact these special ingredients had on the health and wellbeing of the native people.  Several years later and back on Australian shores, they believed a skincare line would be the finest way to bring awareness to the healing properties of  these plants and oils.

Sourced from sustainable farms across the Pacific islands and Australia, their formulas combine wild harvested and Organic oils, butters, hydrosols/floral waters, waxes and potent plant extracts.

Bliss Spaces

Finding my bliss | at Made. Beauty Space

made beauty interior

Nestled a handful of steps off Church Street in Hawthorn, is a bliss space everyone should know about. But for now, let’s keep it as our little secret beauties.

Made. Beauty Space, opened their doors less than 2 years ago, is the creation of Richie Angelo and Stacey Burt who first immersed themselves in the industry back in New Zealand at Rotorua’s famous Polynesian Spa.

Tucked away behind a simple brick facade, the considered, chic and stripped back interior combines touches of art, mid-century modern and monochromatic class. The ease of the space leaves you feeling like you are at home with your sisters, rather than the often sterile surroundings common to beauty spas.

And yes, they have taken a little of their native New Zealand with them, carefully handpicking skincare brands Sans Ceuticals and Sodashi – created by one very successful ex-pat Megan Larsen.

Today it would be my pleasure to introduce you to Skinmade, handcrafted skin care from Queensland.

Of course, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but thoughtful packaging is always a winner in my eyes.

When this brand say the are sustainable and your products come wrapped in hand stamped gum leaves, what is there left to say?

Launched in 2013, Skinmade is hand crafted in small batches by two Queensland beauties and friends – Genevieve and Claire. With backgrounds in health sciences and Naturopathy, they are a driven duo with a huge passion and a big heart for keeping it clean.

Rasasara is a boutique Ayurvedic Organic ‘skinfood’ line that is carefully formulated in Melbourne, Victoria by the passionate Sonia Llyod. I was first introduced to the world of Ayurvedic skincare a couple of years ago when the lovely Lizzy of Primal Junction fame, kindly gifted me with an eye gel for Christmas. It wasn’t until moving to Melbourne that I stumbled upon the full line at my favourite Organic grocer, and of course you know with me – the rest is history!
