Faster EFT or Tapping – My Experience

August 4, 2014

We’ve had the wonderful Jackie Durnin share posts on Faster EFT over the past two weeks, you can revisit them here and here.

I wanted to take this opportunity to share my own personal experiences of working with the delightful Tappy Jackie.

Background

I’ve known Jackie since 2006 having worked together for many years across two agencies. I have been lucky enough to witness and join her on her personal evolution from the corporate world to holistic healing and also to share her journey with Faster EFT. Jackie is someone I consider to be a dear friend – a wonderful sounding board, a joyous soul and someone who will always put a smile on my face.

First Experience – Sinuses

Back in 2010, Jackie was just dipping her toes in to the Faster EFT pool and discovering what it was all about. She had attended her first course and was working with friends and friends of friends to build experience and practice her tapping.

We were travelling with work and as usual, I had dreadfully blocked sinuses. Something that happened to me almost the minute I boarded any plane. It made it hard for me to breathe, I felt really snuffly and landing was often very painful from the pressure. It had once brought me to tears due to how sharp and sore the pressure pain was. It was something that deeply frustrated me, but I had accepted that this was something that I had to live with.

Jackie asked if she could tap on me during the first short flight as a practice run – she felt she could help me, relieve the pressure and hopefully prevent it happening again.

Honestly, I was pretty skeptical and didn’t think anything of it. I was more up for helping a mate out than thinking it would actually work. (How wrong was I!)

So on that hour and a bit flight, I had my first Faster EFT tapping experience. Jackie started with asking me to describe the symptoms, how it made me feel and then we tapped on those feelings / emotions. We chatted a bit more, tapped bit more and this cycle was repeated – each tapping cycle always ending with grabbing your wrist and saying peace.

In between cycles, Jackie questioned and dug a bit deeper in regards to uncovering what memory was linked to the feelings and resulting in the physical symptoms.

All up, we tapped for about 10 or 15 minutes before I experience my emotional shift. It involved a lot of tears and actually was a total shock for me (and another colleague sitting across the aisle from us!). Followed by lots and lots of nose blowing. Jackie was kind and offered to take a break / checked in to see if I wanted to continue. I did as I felt like it was clearing, both physically and emotionally.

In the end we tapped for about 30 minutes and when we landed my sinus pressure was half the pressure of previous flights. We had a short layover of about an hour and a half and it continued to clear throughout that time. Boarding our next longer haul flight (approx. 8 hours) I only had a few sniffles.

Four years on and multiple plane adventures later, not one has been hampered with blocked sinuses even when I’ve had a cold.

I’ve had one ‘top up’ session with Jackie about 2 years ago focusing on my sinuses.

All up, I am really grateful that I took a punt with Jackie and am so thankful to be well rid of it!

Second Experience – Anxiety / Stress

More recently towards the end of last year, Jackie was there when I was having a really difficult time in my career. I was in a toxic environment, feeling lost, unbalanced and overwhelmed with the workload, lack of support and lack of process (to name a few issues). I felt the challenges I were facing were very negative and something had to change.

Tappy Jackie to the rescue!

During a Skype catch-up, Jackie asked me to describe how being at work made me feel, how a usual week / day looked liked for me. She then got me to dial it back a bit further and talk through my commute right through to me arriving at my desk. I found it a bit confronting, so told her through closed eyes.

We tapped after this for about 5 minutes. She then asked me to visualise my commute and walk to work, asking me how I was feeling along the walk and to verbalised this to her.

She then asked me to visualise a place I felt safe, calm, relaxed and happy (feelings which I wanted to exhibit at work) – for me it was on a hammock in the Maldives on my honeymoon. So, in-between tapping this was a scene I visualised / over-laid this visual across the commute etc.

I had another emotional shift – this time expecting it but it still came along unexpected and yes it did involve a lot of tears and sadness.

Humour and music form two core parts of sessions with Jackie. So later in the session we had a laugh and she gave me a theme song – ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry. One which to this day make me smile and makes me feel powerful, in control and think of Jacks.

All up the session was about 45 minutes long and I had a great week where nothing really phased me. I had some moments where I tapped on myself and I listened to Roar as well as Beyonce.

Jackie gave me tools to help reduce the stress and anxiety that I was feeling and manage them much better than I had been. I haven’t felt the depth of those feelings since, which is a relief.

Sessions with me – Tappy Jackie

I would recommend sessions with Jackie for anyone! She’s a beautiful, caring, healing soul who I believe was put on this world to help people.

I’ve done sessions with her both sitting next to her (on a plane!) and over Skype – both mediums are effective.

Her sessions can be confronting, however, the results speak for themselves. She makes you feel safe, she cares about your wellbeing and genuinely wants to help you uncover what is holding you back.
