A Conscious Beauty on daily morning rituals

July 7, 2014
Do you have a morning ritual? something that is special and unique to you that you can’t start the day without?

In the last few weeks you may have noticed our little series centred around morning rituals. These rituals I like to do to nurture inner beauty and self-love, create glowing outer beauty and increase my intake of beauty foods. Today, I wanted to share with you the real meaning behind my morning routine.

My belief is that morning rituals are practices unique to each individual. Many of us go about our morning doing the same actions without putting much attention or thought around why we do them. After all, in this fast paced world, our mornings are often spent rushing from one thing to the next in order to beat traffic and make it to work on time. For many years before I started living a little more consciously, I knew that story all too well.

And I am by no means perfect at this routine. Sometimes I am just not feeling it and I am certainly not getting up at 5am to meditate…just yet…however…

I am working towards my own mindful morning routine.
One that incorporates a handful of special daily practices, unique to me and my needs.

I like to think of these measures as extra steps to caring for my soul and nurturing the body. And I’m sure you are with me on this one –

…A good start to the day can make everything else run a little more smoothly.

Many of these practices I picked up over time often because it was a hot topic in the wellness industry and thought ‘why not’. Ironically, it wasn’t until I started research on my last post about digestion, that I read how Ayurvedic medicine believes in a strong connection between a nurturing morning routine and your physical and mental constitution.

Ayurvedic philosophy believes that the type of rituals you conduct in the morning will aid in building up resistance to a particular disease or help to fight it. Ayurveda encourages us to choose those rituals that are aligned with your individual constitution or dosha, the seasons (i.e. swapping a green smoothie in Winter for a warming breakfast), and forge strong self-love.

So far we have introduced you to 4 different morning practices that I have incorporated on a daily basis. If you didn’t catch any of these posts, you can check them out by clicking on the images below.
